Yesterday, I took a nice trip to Best Buy to pick up the Expendables on Blu-ray along with 2 more CDs (Yes, I believe in buying physical media, even if it's music. Boo pirates!) to add to my Beatles Collection - Rubber Soul and Revolver.
Other Beatles albums in my collection include Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour, The Beatles (aka, the White Album), Abby Road, Let It Be and the Cirque du Soleil soundtrack Love.
I'm finding that at my age older music seems to be much better for my soul. I think we can thank Kevin Spacey for that. About 8 years ago when I saw, what has become one of my favorite movies of all time: American Beauty, we got to see Lester Bernham (Spacey) go from a "loser" to becoming one with his youth again.
From there we're treated with a spectacular soundtrack with music from The Who, Free, Bob Dylan and Annie Lennox ending with Elliott Smith's take on the Beatles classic Because. Now, if you have not heard Elliott Smith's song Needle In The Hay then I suggest you iTunes it. You may have already heard that song if you've ever seen The Royal Tenenbaums, the scene where Richie Tenenbaum (Luke Wilson) cuts off all of his hair and beard then attempts to kill himself. You can also view this scene on YouTube.
Anywho, I think after watching that movie I sort of "woke up". What was mostly a collection of hip-hop and R&B music slowly became more 60s and 70s classic rock music. From that point I suppose I started to grow up.
Then I rediscovered The Beatles.
